It was then that I realized the restaurant business was not the life for me, so I enrolled in college. I became very involved in campus activities and recreational sports. I landed a Graduate Assistantship at the Rowan University Recreation Center in Glassboro, NJ and worked full time at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA as the Coordinator of Informal Recreation and Special Events. I eventually made my way back to Nj and since 2005 I have worked at Rowan University where I spend my days programming and planning events for students.
Cooking and event planning are two things that I am very passionate about. Styke’s World is my way of combining both passions into one business.
People always ask me, what is Styke’s? Styke (STY – KEY) was my nickname given to me at birth. Throughout my entire life I was called Styke and when I started attending the University of West Florida I decided to start going by my birth name, Constantine. The original Styke’s Station was given to me as a child and hung on my wall in my room until my teen years. It was then packed away for over 25 years. I am very proud to have that sign hang on the office wall, reminding me of where I came from and what I enjoy doing.
Event Planning & Catering
I was raised in the restaurant business. Throughout my teen years my parents owned a Mexican restaurant, Amigos, and a Greek inspired restaurant, the Dainty Del. Most of my time after school and on the weekends was spent working in both of my parent’s restaurants. After graduating from high school I was fortunate enough to apprentice for Master Chef, Gerhard Brill, at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, Alabama. After my apprenticeship was complete I managed the Dainty Del until my parents decided to leave the restaurant business.
